Ad Guru Ali Ali Directs His First Film Starring Rapper Marwan Moussa
Moussa and Ali previously collaborated on the music video for the hit song ‘Tesla’.
Ad guru Ali Ali and famed rapper Marwan Moussa are about to check off some firsts from their respective bucket lists with the release of ‘Smokey Eyes’. Not only will it be Ali Ali’s first time directing a short film, it will also be Moussa’s debut as an actor.
While this is the first time they work together on a film, Moussa and Ali Ali previously teamed up on the music video for the hit song ‘Tesla’, which saw the rapper explore a new cinematic visual direction in the form of a grim prison drama.
Ali Ali is one of the world’s top ten most-awarded ad directors. His directorial debut, ‘Never Say No to Panda’, was awarded a Gold Lion at Cannes and garnered more than 90 million views on YouTube, becoming one of the most viewed campaigns of all time.
‘Smokey Eyes’ stars Egyptian actor Hassan Abouelrouss and is filmed by Beirut-based cinematographer Pierre Mouarkech, who’s a frequent collaborator on Ali Ali’s projects. However, details on the plot of the film, as well as the rest of the cast, have yet to be announced.
