Ahmed Malek’s ‘Hani’ to Premiere at Hurghada Youth Film Festival
Directed by Mohamed Allam, the feature film follows the disappearance of a young university student played by Malek.
‘Hani’, a new drama film starring Ahmed Malek, will premiere at Hurghada Youth Film Festival, which will run from September 19th to the 25th.
Directed by Mohamed Allam, the experimental feature film is set in the late 1990s and follows the disappearance of a young university student played by Malek. Through the discovery of old video footage of the boy, his friends rediscover his life as a metal musician and photographer.
“The film reflects a large part of my personal life experience,” director Mohamed Allam tells CairoScene. “I had always wanted to experiment with video footage from the 90s, before the world was taken over fully by the internet, computers and mobile phones.”
The Hurghada Youth Film Festival takes place under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, and the Ministry of Youth and Sport, and aims to support youthful, emerging creatives from the film industry.
