Al Hosn Festival Celebrates Emirati Heritage With Music & Crafts

The 9th edition of Al Hosn Festival, a celebration of the cultural heritage of the UAE organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi, will run until February 9th at the historic Al Hosn site.

This year’s theme, ‘A Living Expression of Abu Dhabi’s Culture’, invites visitors to immerse themselves in the emirate's storied past, and its connection to the modern era, through live music, artisan demonstrations, culinary experiences and educational workshops.

The event’s Makers Space returns with a focus on Al Badiya Living, showcasing craft makers inspired by three key environments – the desert, the oasis, and resting spaces along travel routes. Visitors can engage in hands-on activities such as shelter building, fire starting, and exploring the medicinal uses of native plants. Other highlights include the Gahwa Championships, celebrating the art of Arabic coffee preparation, and ‘Sanad Al Sanaa’, a play promoting values of hospitality, solidarity and cooperation.

In addition, the festival’s House of Artisans delves into the art of traditional Emirati perfumery through its ‘Al Teeb’ programme, while a main performance, featuring poetry, shadow plays and horseback riders, revives historic traditions.
