Bibliotheca Alexandrina’s New Initiative Tackles Illiteracy in Seniors
Bibliotheca Alexandrina is going to teach older Egyptians how to read and write.

The Bibliotheca Alexandria has just announced a new initiative to teach senior citizens how to read and write. The library plans to introduce an experimental curriculum with expert Manar Badr, in the hopes of curtailing illiteracy rates among the older generation of Egyptians.
One of the points the curriculum focuses on is ‘fusha’ Arabic, which can be a major deterrent for those wanting to get started due to how complex Classical Arabic is to master.
The initiative will also address regressive habits that might lead to illiteracy rates rising again.
