CBE Signs Cooperation Protocol With Health Ministry's Medical Fund
The protocol aims to improve healthcare, especially for critical, rare and genetically-caused diseases, by ensuring access for those who do not have health insurance regardless of financial means.
The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) signed a cooperation protocol with the Ministry of Health and Population’s Medical Emergency and Genetic and Rare Disease Fund to improve healthcare access across the country. The agreement is aimed at enhancing services for patients suffering from critical, rare and genetically caused diseases, with a particular focus on those who lack health insurance coverage.
This initiative is part of the ‘New Beginning for Human Building’ program, launched in September by the Ministerial Group for Human Development. The program, which runs for 100 days, aims to address critical health challenges such as patient waiting lists and improve access to necessary medical treatments for vulnerable groups across Egypt.
The new protocol is designed to provide financial assistance for patients in need of critical surgeries or treatment for rare and genetically linked diseases. This support will be available for patients who do not have health insurance, ensuring they can access care in public, private, and non-profit hospitals.
The partnership also highlights the growing role of public-private collaboration in addressing Egypt’s healthcare challenges. By combining the resources of the public and private sectors, the initiative seeks to create a more inclusive healthcare system that can better serve all Egyptians, regardless of their financial means.
