Cate Blanchett Will be Honoured & Attend El Gouna Film Festival 2025
As a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, she has become a powerful advocate for refugees and displaced communities.

El Gouna Film Festival 2025 is rolling out the red carpet for two-time Academy Award winner and UNHCR Global Goodwill Ambassador Cate Blanchett, who will be this year’s Guest of Honor.
From her breakout role in Elizabeth (1998) to her Oscar-winning turn in Blue Jasmine (2013) and her commanding performance in TÁR (2022), Blanchett has carved an unforgettable legacy on screen, working with some of cinema’s most visionary directors.
But her impact goes far beyond film. As a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, she has become a powerful advocate for refugees and displaced communities, echoing the festival’s theme, “Cinema for Humanity.” In recognition, Blanchett will receive the new El Gouna’s Champion of Humanity Award during the 2025 edition, scheduled for October 16th to 24th.
