Central Bank of the UAE Introduces New AED 100 Polymer Banknote
The bank rolls out a new Dhs100 polymer note with advanced security features and a new design–including braille.

The Central Bank of the UAE has introduced a new AED 100 polymer banknote, marking a shift to enhanced security and design. The note features iconic national landmarks, including the Um Al Quwain National Fort and the Port of Fujairah, symbolising the country’s cultural heritage and modern advancements. Etihad Rail, the upcoming national transport network, also appears on the reverse side.
The new polymer note incorporates advanced security features, including a KINEGRAM COLORS chip, to prevent counterfeiting and ensure durability. The polymer material is expected to extend the note’s lifespan, making it more sustainable for circulation compared to paper notes.
While the new AED 100 note enters circulation immediately, the previous paper version, which has been in use since 1982 and updated in 2015, will remain in circulation. The new design also includes Braille features to improve accessibility for individuals with visual impairments.
