Companies Breaking Labour Laws to Be Fined AED 1 Million in UAE
The federal decree sets out punishments for crimes such as the hiring of minors and employing workers without work permits.
In an effort to improve labour rights in the country, the UAE government has announced that it will impose new fines on companies who infringe on its labour laws.
The federal decree sets out a list of punishments for crimes such as the hiring of minors, employing workers without proper work permits, and employing non-existent staff to fulfil Emiratisation requirements.
Fines of AED 100,000 to AED 1 million will be imposed on employers who hire workers without valid work permits, bring workers to the country without providing jobs, close businesses without settling obligations to workers, or for employment fraud, including creating fictitious workers. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has been given the power to settle these cases.
