Djokovic & Nadal to Headline ‘Six Kings Slam’ Tennis Tournament
The elite exhibition tournament brings in five grand-slam winners, including recent Australian Open Champion Jannick Sinner.
The Six Kings Slam is bringing six tennis heavyweights to Saudi Arabia for the next Riyadh Season in October 2024.
Current world number one Novak Djokovic and clay specialist superstar Rafael Nadal have won a combined 46 Grand Slams between them; with four such tournaments a year, that’s equivalent to 11.5 years of championship titles.
These two huge names will be joined by four other tennis ‘kings’ for this series of exhibition matches, three of whom are also Grand Slam winners. 20 year old Carlos Alcaraz, who came very close to defeating Djokovic at Wimbledon last year, will appear alongside Jannik Sinner, who recently claimed victory at the Australian Open in January, Daniil Medvedev, who conquered the US Open in 2021, and Holger Rune.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been a major disruptor in international sports recently, as they diversify and expand their cultural and entertainment scene. Memories of controversy surrounding the Saudi-hosted LIV Golf Tour, and its vying for position against the PGA, are still fresh in many sports fans’ minds. The new tour, founded in 2021, offered big-name players contracts and huge incentives to move from PGA to the Saudi competitor.
