Dubai’s Crown Prince Launches Quality of Life Strategy 2033

Dubai’s Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan has recently launched the city’s Quality of Life Strategy 2033, which hopes to transform Dubai into one of the most eco, family and pedestrian-friendly cities in the world.

The strategy involves the creation of around 200 projects to ensure residents have ease of access to essential services at all times. Amongst the projects is the planned extension of public amenities with the creation of 200 new public parks, the expansion of beach cycling trails by 300%, and the designation of new women-only beaches.

The larger project also aims to redesign the city’s outlying areas, namely Al Mizhar 1, Al Khawaneej 2 and Al Barsha 2. Including the creation of around 115 kilometres of pedestrian and cycling tracks in these areas, the project also aims to enhance the natural beauty of these areas through the planting of 3,000 trees and plants.

Larger environmentally-friendly projects will also be launched to enhance the city’s air quality and water quality through the creation of around 376 monitoring stations. Further environmentally-focused projects include the creation of eight new wildlife and marine reserves to protect the emirate’s rich and diverse biodiversity. Further development of the world’s largest single–site solar energy park, Mohammed Bin Rashid Solar Park, is also underway.
