The budget will be funded by revenue from tourist's entrance fees to archaeological sites.
The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has announced that Egyptian authorities have allocated a budget of EGP 30 billion for the restoration of Egyptian Antiquities. The budget will be mostly self-funded using the income generated from the entrance fees of archaeological sites.
With 4,000 hotels currently in Egypt, the ministry is currently working towards building more hotels to keep pace with the increasing number of tourists, as part of the government’s plan to have 30 million tourists visiting per year within the next five years.
In the first half of 2023, Egypt was visited by seven million tourists. The ministry is aiming for a total of 15 million tourists by the end of the year.
