Egypt Targets 10% Inflation Rate by 2026

Egypt’s government is working to bring the inflation rate down to 10% by 2026, following a reduction to 12.5% in 2025, according to Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly. Speaking at a press conference in the New Administrative Capital, Madbouly emphasised that the country’s economic indicators suggest it is on the right trajectory to achieve this goal.

During the same address, Madbouly confirmed that the government had reviewed the trajectory of public and external debt with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, outlining plans to reduce the national debt burden over the next three years. The Prime Minister reaffirmed the state's commitment to maintaining economic stability and managing inflation through coordinated fiscal policies.

Recent reports indicate that Egypt's annual urban consumer inflation slowed to 24% in January 2025, down from a peak of 38% in September 2023.
