Egypt Will Host International Summit to Discuss De-escalation in Gaza
World leaders will be gathering in Cairo on Saturday, October 21st for the summit.
Egypt will be hosting an international summit focused on the de-escalation of the ongoing Israeli violence on the Gaza Strip. The summit, to be held in Cairo on Saturday, October 21st, aims to bring together regional and international partners to find a path towards resolving the crisis.
Following a National Security Council meeting in Cairo, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi called for the international summit to address the future of Palestine. France has already confirmed its participation.
Reports suggest that US President Joe Biden may also participate in the summit following his visit to Israel. The summit is expected to include the participation of 18 countries and the Secretary General of the United Nations.
Coined the 'Cairo Peace Summit 2023', the event takes place against the backdrop of the violence in the Gaza Strip. The toll on human life continues to rise, with the Palestinian health ministry reporting over 2,800 deaths and thousands more injured due to Israeli bombardment.
