Egypt’s First Fully Solar-Powered Mosque Opens in Minya
The mosque operates on 15 solar panels with an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system to ensure continuous power.

The Ministry of Awqaf has announced the full operation of the first mosque in Egypt to run entirely on renewable energy.
Al-Nasr Mosque - located in Delga, Minya - operates on a solar power station consisting of 15 photovoltaic panels, ensuring a sustainable and uninterrupted energy supply for all facilities. It is also equipped with an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system to maintain electricity flow during peak hours or power outages.
The ministry plans to extend the initiative nationwide, coordinating with renewable energy specialists to support implementation. This effort is part of a broader strategy to cut electricity costs, promote sustainability, and advance Egypt’s renewable energy transition.
