Egypt’s PM Announces Saturday, January 25th as Public Holiday
The holiday marks both the anniversary of the 25 January Revolution and Egypt's Police Day.
Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has announced that Saturday, January 25th, will be a paid day off to mark both the anniversary of the 25 January Revolution and Egypt's Police Day.
The holiday applies to employees across a range of sectors, including ministries, government institutions, public authorities, local administration units, public sector companies, and public business sector companies. Additionally, the day off will also extend to those working in the private sector.
The date holds dual significance, commemorating the fourteenth anniversary of the 2011 Revolution, which led to the ousting of President Hosni Mubarak, as well as Police Day. The latter honors the bravery of Egyptian police officers, remembering the massacre of 50 policemen by British occupation forces in Ismailia in 1952.
