Egyptian Olympian Seif Eissa Named Best Taekwondo Player in Africa

Egyptian taekwondo champion Seif Eissa has been named Best Player in Africa by the African Taekwondo Union, the governing body responsible for ranking and recognising the continent’s top athletes. The award highlights Eissa’s consistency across major international competitions, where he has remained one of Africa’s most reliable scorers. Eissa has previously received the award in 2021.

As an Olympic medallist and one of Egypt’s standout athletes, Eissa earned the title following a year of strong performances at continental championships and global tournaments. His biggest win this year is the gold medal at the 2025 World Taekwondo Championships in China - Egypt’s first Taekwondo world championship gold in 28 years.

For more about the human behind the (many) medals, we spoke to Seif Eissa for our 2025 Impact List – here's the full interview.
