Fake Medical Certificates to Be Punished With SAR 100,000 Fines
Sick leave must now be obtained exclusively through the Sehhaty platform to ensure authenticity.

The Ministry of Health has issued a strict warning against the use and issuance of fraudulent medical leave certificates. Under the new regulations, individuals caught engaging in such practices could face up to one year in jail and fines reaching SAR 100,000.
The ministry emphasised that the only legitimate method for obtaining sick leave reports is through the official Sehhaty platform, which ensures the reliability and verification of medical records. The platform facilitates seamless communication between healthcare providers, employers and government entities to prevent misuse.
Healthcare professionals are also urged to issue medical leave only when necessary, following ethical and legal standards. The ministry has also warned citizens to be cautious of fake accounts on social media promoting fraudulent medical certificates, reiterating that engaging in such activities is a legal offense.
To maintain transparency, the Ministry of Health regularly reviews sick leave requests, cross-referencing them with patient medical histories through digital monitoring systems. This initiative aims to prevent the misuse of sick leave privileges and ensure fairness within the healthcare system.
