Food Deliveries Banned at Abu Dhabi Schools

The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) has announced a complete ban on food deliveries to all schools in the emirate, effective immediately. The new directive applies to both public and private schools and is part of a broader update to school nutrition policies.

According to ADEK, the ban covers all external food deliveries, including those from restaurants, fast food outlets, and delivery apps. The move is intended to ensure that all food consumed on school premises meets the updated health and safety standards set by the department.

In addition to the delivery ban, ADEK has introduced new nutrition guidelines for school canteens. The updated policy requires all school food providers to comply with specific nutritional standards, including limits on sugar, salt, and fat content. The guidelines also restrict the sale of certain items, such as energy drinks, soft drinks, and high-calorie snacks.
