Formula E Makes Grand Return to Saudi Arabia in 2025 in Diriyah
The return of Formula E to Diriyah is particularly notable as it will feature a new track location, the details of which will be announced in due course.
Formula E, an open-wheel single-seater motorsport championship for electric cars, has announced its provisional calendar for Season 11 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, featuring its seventh return to Saudi Arabia. The Diriyah double-header races will take place on February 14th and 15th, 2025, at a new venue in Diriyah, promising fresh excitement with a new track location. This announcement, validated by the FIA World Motorsport Council, is part of a historic 17-race season spanning 11 iconic venues.
The season kicks off in São Paulo on December 7th, 2024, following pre-season testing in Valencia from November 4th to 7th, 2024. This will be the first public test of the all-new GEN3 EVO race car, which boasts impressive acceleration capabilities, achieving 0-60 mph in just 1.82 seconds, 36% faster than the current GEN3 model.
Besides the new venue in Diriyah, Season 11 includes races in new locations such as Miami and Tokyo, along with a return to Jakarta after a one-year hiatus. A notable highlight is Monaco's first-ever double-header, hosting back-to-back races on the full Circuit de Monaco. The season concludes with a double-header finale in ExCeL London.
One location is still to be confirmed as final discussions with a new venue are underway, with a complete calendar announcement expected in the autumn following the FIA's World Motor Sport Council Meeting.
