Grade Requirements for Top Egyptian Universities Announced

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ayman Ashour, has announced the minimum high school scores required for admission to top faculties at public universities in Egypt for the 2024/2025 academic year. The announcement comes in the wake of the submission of university applications by the highest-scoring students, known as first-phase Tansik candidates, through the Tansik system.

The minimum scores required for admission to these faculties have been detailed as follows: Medicine requires a minimum score of 93.2%, Dentistry 92.8%, Pharmacy 91.7%, and Physical Therapy 92.2%. Engineering requires a score of 88.65%, Economics and Political Science 85.24%, Al Alsun 84.26%, and Mass Communication 83.17%.

A total of 144,462 students registered their university preferences during this first phase. The first phase of Tansik included students with minimum scores of 90.48% in the science section, 87.07% in the mathematics section, and 68.29% in the literature section. Among the top faculties for the scientific branch are medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and physical therapy. For students in the mathematics section, fields such as petroleum and mineral engineering are highly sought after, while in the literature section, popular choices include mass communication, Al Alsun (languages), and economics and political science.

High school graduates in Egypt can verify their college admissions through the official Tansik system. The second phase of Tansik is set to begin on August 20th, with a minimum required score of 64.63% in the science section and 56.09% in the literature section. Approximately 353,057 students are expected to participate in this phase, which will run until August 24th.

This year, more than 726,648 students took the high school exams, with 590,992 passing and 69,984 failing. The new academic year for universities and institutes is scheduled to commence on September 28th, 2024.
