Banks in Egypt Will Operate Remotely on Sundays in April 2026
The central bank stated that the remote work policy will be reviewed after the end of April 2026.
Remote work will be implemented across all banks in Egypt every Sunday throughout April 2026, under new directives issued by the Central Bank of Egypt.
The measure applies weekly during the month, with banks instructed to organise operations in a way that maintains uninterrupted customer service at branches and ensures continuity across key departments.
In guidance sent to bank leadership, Tarek El Khouly, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, directed institutions to apply the arrangement based on their internal structures while preserving full service delivery.
Banks are required to keep contact centres operational to handle customer enquiries and to ensure the regular replenishment and maintenance of ATMs in coordination with cash transport companies.
The instructions also emphasise the need to maintain the efficiency of digital banking channels and to increase cybersecurity monitoring across systems during the period.
