How the UAE Is Keeping Prices Stable Amid Regional Conflict

The UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism has launched a new advanced digital platform that tracks prices of essential consumer goods in real time, helping ensure fair market practices nationwide.

What the System Does

Retailers must submit their price lists directly to the system. It cross-checks prices against approved benchmarks and flags any unjustified increases in real time. It’s designed to maintain market stability, especially during high-demand seasons.

What’s Being Monitored

The system pays special attention to nine essential food categories including cooking oil, eggs, dairy products, rice, sugar, poultry, legumes, bread, and wheat—and tracks household items, and other daily necessities, too.

Nationwide Coverage

The monitoring system is linked to 627 major retail outlets—including consumer cooperatives, hypermarkets, and large supermarkets—covering more than 90 % of domestic trade in essential consumer goods across all seven emirates.

Violations & How to Report

Traders who violate regulations may face anything from warnings and fines—ranging from AED 500 to 100,000—to temporary closures for serious offenses.

Consumers can report these price violations by calling 8001222 or through the official website: www.moet.gov.ae.
