IB Students in UAE to Receive Grades Without Final Exams
Final International Baccalaureate exam sessions in the UAE have been replaced with an alternative grading system.
International Baccalaureate students across the UAE will not sit final examinations this year, with results to be awarded through a non-exam contingency grading system.
The approach was confirmed following coordination with the Ministry of Education, with schools informing parents that IB Diploma and Career-related Programme students will instead receive grades based on internal assessments and coursework.
Under the Non-Exam Contingency Measure, final results will be determined using a combination of internal assessments, coursework and other academic evidence, removing the need for in-person examinations.
Authorities said the decision was taken to prioritise student safety while ensuring continuity in education during ongoing uncertainties.
Schools are continuing classes as normal, with an increased focus on completing Internal Assessments, which will play a central role in determining final grades.
The International Baccalaureate Organisation said it will communicate directly with universities worldwide to clarify the grading approach for students in the region.
Officials added that grades issued under this system are expected to be recognised by most higher education institutions globally, with further details on grading methodology to be shared with students and parents in the coming weeks.
