IUCN World Conservation Congress Takes Place in Abu Dhabi
The programme includes a public Forum the Members’ Assembly and an Exhibition where governments NGOs and experts engage on conservation decisions.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) will host its World Conservation Congress in Abu Dhabi from October 9th to 15th, 2025, bringing together more than 1,400 member organisations to shape global policy and collective action on climate, biodiversity, and sustainable development.
Held once every four years, the Congress is the world’s largest and most influential gathering on conservation and sustainability, uniting leaders and decision-makers from governments, civil society, Indigenous communities, business, and academia.
The event consists of three key components: the Forum, the Members’ Assembly, and the Exhibition. The Forum serves as an open platform for debate, dialogue, and training. The Members’ Assembly—IUCN’s highest decision-making body—sees governments and non-governmental organisations jointly adopt resolutions that guide global conservation priorities. Meanwhile, the Exhibition invites IUCN members, partners, and researchers to showcase their latest innovations and projects, welcoming both registered participants and the general public with free access.
According to IUCN, the Congress aims to enhance how the natural world is managed by involving all sectors of society in environmental governance. In preparation for the 2025 edition, members gathered at Regional Conservation Fora held between April and October 2024, helping to shape the discussions and motions that will take place in Abu Dhabi.
