‘In the Prophet’s Steps’ Project to Recreate Historic Route in Madinah

Prince Salman bin Sultan, Emir of Madinah Region, has announced the launch of the ‘In the Prophet’s Steps’ project in November 2025. Created in collaboration with historical and governmental institutions, the initiative recreates the historic route taken by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) during his migration from Makkah to Madinah, as part of Saudi Arabia's broader efforts to preserve historical Islamic sites and enhance the spiritual experiences of visitors to the Two Holy Mosques.

The project includes the restoration of 41 historical landmarks spread across a 470-kilometre route that links Makkah and Madinah. The project also features five interactive stations that narrate key events from the migration, as well as a dedicated Migration Museum designed to educate visitors on the historical significance of the journey.
