Israel-Hamas Truce Extended for One Day
Israel and Hamas have agreed to a last-minute extension of the six-day truce, as announced by Qatar.
Israel and Hamas have agreed to a last-minute extension of the six-day truce, as announced by Qatar, a mediator between the two parties. Negotiations on the extension reached a critical point, with final-minute disagreements arising over the release of hostages by Hamas in exchange for prolonging the cessation of bombardment.
The announcement of the extension came right before the truce's scheduled expiration at 7 AM (0500 GMT) on Thursday. The Qatari Foreign Ministry clarified that the extension follows the same terms as before, where Hamas commits to releasing 10 Israeli hostages daily, reciprocated by the release of 30 Palestinian prisoners.
