Jeddah Sets December 1st Deadline to Relocate Auto Scrap Yards
This initiative forms part of the Auto Scrap Project, itself a key component of the broader Metal Collection City development.
The Jeddah Mayoralty has established a timeline for relocating auto scrap and used spare-parts operations from the Al-Hamdaniyah neighbourhood to a newly planned site in south Jeddah. The move is scheduled to begin Monday, December 1st, 2025, and has been issued to all investors and operators in the sector.
This initiative forms part of the Auto Scrap Project, itself a key component of the broader Metal Collection City development. The project covers a total area of 1.9 million square metres, with 850,000 m² designated for leasing and comprising 291 plots of varying sizes to accommodate individual and complex leasing models.
Supporting infrastructure is likewise comprehensive: the development will include retail and service outlets, parking, mosques, workers’ housing, and pedestrian networks designed to meet modern urban-planning standards. A partnership with the Jeddah Development and Urban Regeneration Company has been signed to deliver additional utilities, including a dedicated power plant for the site.
Operators in Al-Hamdaniyah have been advised to begin evacuation procedures immediately and to coordinate with the Jeddah Development and Urban Regeneration Company for further details. The relocation aims to improve environmental conditions and urban safety in Al-Hamdaniyah while creating a purpose-built industrial hub in line with Jeddah’s long-term development strategy.
