King Abdulaziz Camel Festival Begins With SAR 85 Million Prize

And they're off! King Abdulaziz Festival, one of the Kingdom's most important cultural events, has begun at King Abdulaziz Racetrack in Al-Sayahid. Celebrating camels as a cultural and economic symbol, the festival features a variety of activities including an intense 20-day camel race competition with prizes of over SAR 28 million.

Covering a total of 1,335 kilometres, the races will be split between 233 events, with 185 morning races and 48 evening races across a variety of categories, including Haqqayiq, Lagayya, Jatha'a, Thanaya, and Hail and Zamoul. This year, the festival will feature a women's race on December 20th, as part of a national push to involve women in traditional sports.
