Egypt is getting its first organ transplant centre - and it’s set to be the largest in the Middle East.
To be established in Nasr City, the centre will become a regional hub for organ transplants with 12,000 operating rooms, all of which follow international health standards.
While organ transplants are often a topic of controversy in Egypt, the centre will make the procedure more accessible to Egyptian citizens. The centre is expected to lighten waiting lists around the country, especially since it will be the first time lung transplants are made available in Egypt.
