Middle East’s First Textile Recycling Facility Opens in Dubai
The facility aims to extend the lifecycle of used fabrics from fashion and home products, transforming them into new materials for reuse.
The Middle East’s first textile recycling facility, Landmark Circulife, has just been unveiled by Landmark Group at Dubai World Central. The facility aims to extend the lifecycle of used fabrics from fashion and home products, transforming them into new materials for reuse. With an initial capacity to process 2,000 metric tonnes of textile waste annually, it is poised to prevent significant waste from ending up in landfills.
This initiative aligns with Landmark Group’s broader sustainability strategy, which aims to achieve climate positivity across its value chain by 2050. The facility is also expected to address around 5% of the UAE's textile waste, equivalent to approximately 11,000 metric tonnes, and contribute to reducing 140,000 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions while conserving energy and water resources.
Last year, Landmark Retail initiated takeback programs across its UAE stores—including Centrepoint, Max Fashion, Home Centre, and Home Box—encouraging customers to donate pre-loved garments and textiles, regardless of brand. Participants in the program are rewarded for their contributions, which are sent to the recycling facility to be processed into fibers. These fibers can then be shipped to manufacturing units to be spun into yarn and used in new apparel or home furnishings.
This facility not only reinforces Dubai’s position as a regional leader in sustainability but also invites residents to play an active role in protecting the environment by participating in these programs.
