Ministry of Health Begins Green Project Rollout in Public Hospitals
The initiative targets key areas such as electricity and water consumption, medical waste management, and the promotion of environmental awareness.

The Ministry of Health and Population has launched the first phase of its Green Projects initiative in public hospitals and healthcare facilities across Egypt, introducing a series of environmentally focused reforms aimed at improving resource efficiency and reducing environmental impact.
The initiative targets key areas such as electricity and water consumption, medical waste management, and the promotion of environmental awareness among healthcare workers.
Each participating hospital will form a dedicated “green team” composed of representatives from medical, engineering, environmental, financial, legal, and administrative departments. These teams are responsible for designing tailored action plans based on the specific nature and needs of each facility.
Plans will prioritise improvements in energy and water efficiency as well as the gradual introduction of recycling systems for medical waste.
Operational and technical support will be provided throughout the process, with the current phase serving as a foundation for a scalable and replicable model across Egypt’s healthcare sector.
