Mohamed Salah Joins Premier League’s Top 10 All-Time Goalscorers
The Egyptian King scored his 150th goal in the Premier League and his 200th for Liverpool in all competitions.
Mohmaed Salah’s crucial equaliser for Liverpool against Crystal Palace, which helped his side to the top of the Premier League table, marked two major goal scoring milestones for the Egyptian forward. With this goal, he became the fifth player in Liverpool’s history to score 200 goals in all competitions, while also bagging his 150th Premier League goal.
Salah’s 150th goal came in his 246th Premier League fixture, making him the fifth-fastest player to get there and only the 11th player in history to do so. He sits in joint 10th place in the Premier League’s list of all-time top goalscorers alongside former Liverpool forward Michael Owen and is only 13 goals away from scoring as highly as Liverpool’s Robbie Fowler.
The milestone goal may not have been the greatest, having resulted from a cruel deflection, but they all count the same and Salah can play with more ease now he’s officially reached the mark. Anticipation had been building in Liverpool, with manager Jurgen Klopp admitting that the team carried a ‘200 goal’ t-shirt for the past two weeks to celebrate Salah’s milestone.
The Egyptian King’s 11th goal of the season puts him in contention for this year’s Golden Boot, with Manchester City’s Erling Haaland leading the race with 14 goals. Salah has previously won three Golden Boots.
In the Premier League’s top 10 list of goalscorers - which includes legends such as Thierry Henry, Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard and Sergio Aguero - Salah and former Spurs striker Harry Kane are the only active players. Chances are likely that Salah won’t remain 10th for long. 150 and counting, legend.
