New Digital Platform Expands Affordable Healthcare Access for Refugees
Refugees registered with UNHCR will gain access to discounted medical services through the AXON Plus digital health platform.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has signed a General Cooperation Agreement with AXON for Integrated Solutions, an Egyptian digital health services provider, to expand access to affordable healthcare for refugees registered with the agency in Egypt.
Under the partnership, refugees will be able to access discounted medical services and digital health features through the AXON Plus application.
The initiative links users to a network of private healthcare providers across the country and aims to reduce financial barriers to essential medical care.
UNHCR stated that the programme will support refugees who face increasing difficulty accessing affordable healthcare services, particularly those living with chronic illnesses or specialised medical conditions.
According to UNHCR, Egypt currently hosts more than 1.1 million registered refugees and asylum seekers from multiple nationalities. The agency noted that prolonged displacement and limited humanitarian funding have placed growing pressure on available services.
