New Shelter for Stray Dogs Will Be Established in Aswan
The decision, made by Aswan’s governor, makes it Egypt’s first governmental dog shelter.
Major General Ashraf Attia, Governor of Aswan, revealed the establishment of the first shelter complex for stray dogs.
The governor stated that he will also be building a stable to house stray horses and ponies owned by illegal stagecoach operators in the Shallal area. Covering an area of 2,100 square metres, this project will cost approximately EGP 11.3 million.
The project should be completed within a maximum period of five months. The complex will serve as a sanctuary, providing comprehensive veterinary care for dogs, ensuring their proper management. Additionally, the project aims to prevent the uncontrolled spread of stray horses. This model will serve as a pilot stage, with plans to gradually replicate it in other centers and cities.
