New Virtual Authority Opens Government Design to Emiratis
The Community-Managed Virtual Authority will be composed of team members drawn from the country's citizens for rotating terms.
A new government body designed to place citizens at the centre of policy development is set to be established following a directive issued by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Announced at the conclusion of the UAE’s Year of Community 2025, the Community-Managed Virtual Authority introduces a non-traditional governance model that relies on direct participation from skilled Emiratis. The initiative is intended to create a flexible, community-driven structure through which citizens can contribute to shaping national priorities and solutions.
The authority will be overseen by a director general and staffed by Emiratis who will be appointed for fixed terms to lead and operate the entity. Team members will rotate periodically, with each cohort tasked with developing initiatives, programmes, and practical products aimed at delivering measurable and lasting benefits to the country and its people.
