PIF Launches New Company to Promote Ecotourism Across Saudi Arabia
The company aims to create distinctive tourism projects around Saudi cities, emphasising natural and farmed landscapes.
The Public Investment Fund (PIF) has launched the ‘Dan Company’, a venture dedicated to agritourism and ecotourism in Saudi Arabia. The company aims to create distinctive tourism projects around Saudi cities, emphasising natural and farmed landscapes while engaging local communities with immersive experiences that are all about Saudi arts, crafts, cuisines and traditions.
Dan’s inaugural project in the Al-Ahsa region will feature an eco-resort, an agri-resort, and an adventure resort. The agritourism resort in Al-Ahsa will showcase the region's renowned rice and dates, allowing visitors to engage in seasonal farming, harvesting, and cooking farm-sourced products. The eco-resort meanwhile will prioritise sustainability, utilising local materials with low carbon emissions. The adventure resort will provide wanderlustful wayfarers with environmentally-friendly experiences such as horse riding, star-gazing, and climbing rocky hills.
The company plans to further empower local communities by offering franchises to farmers and tourist lodge operators, providing training and knowledge to establish and develop their facilities.
Dan Company is anticipated to contribute around USD 1.6 billion (SAR 6 billion) to Saudi Arabia's non-oil GDP by 2030 as it expands to other locations, aligning with Vision 2030 goals to diversify the economy and enhance the contribution of cities to the Saudi GDP.
