PM Reveals Plans to Make Marsa Matrouh a Year-Round Travel Destinaion

Development efforts in Matrouh Governorate are being closely tracked through on-the-ground inspections and regular coordination meetings, as part of a wider strategy to maximise the governorate’s economic potential, particularly along its Mediterranean coastline.

The update was discussed during a government meetingto review the implementation status of development and infrastructure projects across the governorate. The session brought together officials from tourism, housing, utilities, urban development and local administration to assess progress and address execution priorities.

The Mediterranean coastal strip was highlighted as a key asset for diversified development, with plans aimed at repositioning Matrouh as a destination that supports tourism and residency throughout the year. Current initiatives span tourism projects, infrastructure upgrades, utilities expansion and road network improvements, all intended to improve accessibility and service quality.

Officials described the approach as part of a broader state plan to move Matrouh beyond its traditional seasonal role, strengthening its appeal as a long-term tourism and living destination.

The strategy focuses on sustainable development, improved public services and infrastructure, and creating an environment capable of attracting investment in line with wider urban and tourism development objectives.
