RTA Deploys New Digital System to Detect Metro & Tram Violations
The new system automates ticket inspections, identifies violation hotspots and deploys inspectors based on real-time data.

A new digital platform has been introduced to oversee inspection operations on the Dubai Metro and Tram, streamlining monitoring efforts and passenger compliance. The system, developed by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in collaboration with Keolis MHI, automates ticket inspections, identifies violation hotspots, and deploys inspectors based on real-time data analysis.
The platform detects common violations, including: unauthorised use of Gold Class cabins by Silver nol cardholders, and misuse of designated areas, such as spaces reserved for women.
A specialised monitoring centre has been established to track real-time inspection activities, improving response times for violations that impact passenger safety and comfort. The system has already led to a 14% monthly increase in inspections, enhancing regulation compliance across Dubai's public transport network.
Beyond enforcement, the platform also records passenger data to identify repeat offenders, integrating an educational approach to encourage adherence to metro and tram rules.
