Record Number of 1200 Mosques Were Inaugurated in Egypt in 2022
The Ministry of Awqaf announced that a record of 1,200 mosques was either built or renovated in Egypt in 2022.

Cairo may be called the city of a thousand minarets, but even more are being built by the day in Egypt. The Ministry of Awqaf has announced a record number of 1,200 mosques - either newly built or renovated - were inaugurated across the country in 2022, some of which were financed by the government while others were privately built under governmental supervision. In total, 2,451 mosques affiliated with the Ministry of Awqaf have been inaugurated since 2020.
