Saudi Arabia Ranked as Egypt’s Second Biggest Trading Partner

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) reports that Saudi Arabia was the second-largest trading partner for Egypt by the end of the first quarter of 2024, with trade reaching USD 5.209 billion - comprising USD 3.871 billion in imports and USD 1.338 billion in exports.

From July 2023 to March 2024, Egypt's total foreign trade amounted to USD 77.039 billion, including approximately USD 52.920 billion in imports and USD 24.119 billion in exports.

Notably, trade with Egypt's top 14 trading partners accounted for 63.6% of this total, making up USD 48.990 billion, with USD 32.983 billion in imports and USD 16.006 billion in exports. The UAE topped the list of trading partners with a trade volume of USD 6.998 billion, followed closely by Saudi Arabia. The United States ranked third, with a trade volume of USD 5.091 billion, while China was fourth at USD 5.077 billion.

Germany and the UK followed in fifth and sixth place, with trade volumes of USD 3.819 billion and USD 3.697 billion, respectively. Italy, Turkey, and Switzerland also featured prominently in Egypt’s trade landscape.

The CBE further detailed that trade with other countries totaled USD 28.049 billion, consisting of USD 19.936 billion in imports and USD 8.112 billion in exports, reflecting Egypt's diverse trading relationships on the global stage.
