Saudi Fund Signs USD 75 Million Loan for Cameroon Road

A USD 75 million development loan agreement has been signed to finance the rehabilitation of the Sorawel–Dourbeye Road in Cameroon.

The agreement was concluded between the Saudi Fund for Development and the Government of Cameroon to support infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving regional connectivity.

The project focuses on upgrading a key transport corridor designed to facilitate trade with neighbouring Nigeria and Chad, while improving access to essential services including healthcare, education and local markets.

The rehabilitation is aligned with Cameroon’s National Development Strategy 2030 and is intended to reduce isolation in connected areas while strengthening transport links across the region.

The project forms part of a broader development partnership spanning more than four decades, during which the Saudi Fund for Development has supported 10 projects in Cameroon with a total value exceeding USD 180 million across infrastructure, education and healthcare sectors.

Across Africa, the fund reports financing 458 development projects in 47 countries, reflecting ongoing investment in infrastructure and economic development across the continent.
