Saudi High Schools Introduce AI Course for Over 50,000 Students
The elective ‘Introduction to Artificial Intelligence’ will involve interactive lessons and real-world applications.

Saudi Arabia is introducing a new elective course titled Introduction to Artificial Intelligence for high school seniors, targeting more than 50,000 12th-grade students in its initial rollout. The announcement was made during the Human Capability Initiative 2025 in Riyadh, a national forum focused on future skills development.
Developed in collaboration between the Ministry of Education and the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), the course is being delivered through a custom-built digital platform designed to offer interactive learning experiences. The curriculum includes multimedia modules, hands-on exercises, and project-based learning to demonstrate AI’s practical applications in fields such as healthcare, transportation, and cybersecurity.
The programme will be taught with the support of trained educators and is structured to promote critical thinking and problem-solving using AI technologies. Its launch reflects a growing trend in the Gulf to embed AI into public education, as governments invest in building talent pipelines for emerging industries.
