Saudia Cargo Reports 64% Increase in Date Shipments
The rise in shipments from 2024 reflects growing global demand for this traditional Middle Eastern fruit.

Saudia Cargo - the air freight division of Saudia, the national carrier of Saudi Arabia - has reported a 64% increase in date shipments, highlighting the growing global demand for one of the Middle East’s most traditional exports. The surge underscores Saudi Arabia’s efforts to strengthen its agricultural export sector and enhance its position as one of the world’s leading date producers.
The company attributes the rise in shipments to increasing international interest in Saudi dates, sourced from key regions such as Al Ahsa, Riyadh, Qassim, and Madinah—areas known for producing premium date varieties.
Dates have been a staple of Middle Eastern diets and culture for centuries, and their global consumption has risen significantly in recent years. Saudi Arabia has positioned itself as a major supplier to markets across Europe, Asia, and North America, supported by continued investments in logistics and trade infrastructure.
