Sawiris Cultural Award Opens Applications to Young Screenwriters
The Young Screenwriters Award calls for submissions with a deadline set for July 25th and a cash prize of EGP 150,000 announced.
The Sawiris Cultural Award has announced the opening of applications for its Screenwriters Award, Young Writers Branch, with the submission deadline for applications being July 25th. The award’s cash prize is valued at EGP 150,000.
The award is granted to screenwriters under 40 years old who have not previously produced any feature films which have appeared at cinemas.
The Sawiris Cultural Award has also opened its submissions for the category of novels and short stories. The submission deadline is also July 25th, with cash prizes of EGP 200,000 going to the first place winner, while EGP 150,000 goes to second place. The winning novel will additionally receive the Translation Award, which covers the cost of contracting a publishing house to translate, print and publish the novel.
