Second Khufu Boat to Be Fully Restored in 2024
Khufu's second solar barque is scheduled to be fully reassembled and restored by 2024, after which it will join its counterpart in the special 22,000 metre museum attached to the GEM.
Following the successful transfer of the first Khufu Boat from its previous resting place at the Great Pyramids of Giza to the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), the pharaoh’s second solar barque is scheduled to be fully reassembled and restored by 2024, after which it will join its counterpart in the special 22,000 metre museum attached to the GEM.
The boats’ permanent exhibit area will be equipped with the latest technology to allow visitors to view them without risk of damage, and will showcase the rise of Ancient Egyptian civilization from the south to the north.
