Sharjah Allocates AED 100M in Compensation for Al Madam Relocations

Sharjah authorities have approved an additional AED 100 million in compensation for 200 families previously relocated from the Al Madam housing area, increasing total compensation per household to AED 750,000.

The beneficiaries were residents of a 1970s-era Sha’bi housing project in Al Madam, which had been abandoned by 1999 due to increasingly harsh desert conditions including frequent sandstorms and limited infrastructure. As part of Sharjah’s broader urban development strategy, affected families were moved to upgraded residential zones with an initial AED 250,000 in compensation.

The newly allocated funds bring the total per-family payout to AED 750,000, with distribution scheduled for completion by the end of 2025. The measure is part of the emirate’s efforts to alleviate financial burdens for relocated families while supporting long-term urban renewal across Sharjah.
