Sharjah Raises Monthly Social Allowances to AED 17,500 From 2026

Sharjah will increase monthly social allowances for 6,317 Emirati beneficiaries to AED 17,500 starting January 2026, under an updated support framework targeting senior citizens, widows, divorcees and low-income families with two or more members. The revised payments will be distributed across the emirate to eligible men and women identified under existing social welfare criteria.
The adjustment is expected to cost approximately AED 524 million annually and represents an expansion of Sharjah’s social support provisions. The revised allowance sets a unified monthly level for all beneficiaries within the covered categories, replacing previous tiered or lower-value payments.
The Sharjah Social Services Department will oversee implementation in coordination with relevant authorities to ensure payments reach all approved beneficiaries on schedule. The update applies across the emirate and is limited to citizens meeting the department’s eligibility requirements within the specified categories.
