The Ministry of Transport has announced that German conglomerate Siemens has started on the manufacturing process of Egypt’s high speed electric trains.

This is one of the first steps towards developing the high speed rail network system in Egypt. The railway network will be 2,000 KM long including three major lines connecting all of Egypt’s cities.

The first line, which will be 660 KM long, will connect the Red Sea city of Ain Al Sokhna with coastal cities along the North Coast including Alexandria, Marsa Matrouh, and Al Alamein.
