Sixth Line of the Cairo Metro Will Connect Maadi to Al Khosous
To support the project, the French Treasury has granted EUR 8 million for the second phase of studies.
As part of the ongoing expansion of the Cairo Metro, the National Tunnels Authority has unveiled their plan for the sixth metro line.
The new line will run parallel to the Metro Line 1, serving as a vital relief route for the much-used metro system. Stretching from the Al-Khosos area at Exit 18 of the Ring Road to New Maadi, the expansion will cover a distance of 34 kilometres and include 26 stations. It will connect with Metro Line 1 at Al-Demerdash station, Metro Line 3 at Abbasiya station, and Metro Line 4 at the Majar El-Ayoun station, facilitating transfers between lines.
The National Tunnels Authority has also recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Federation of French Consulting Companies to advance the second phase of studies for the expansion of the sixth metro line, with the French Treasury granting EUR 8 million towards the studies.
