Syrian Embassy Offers Free Return Tickets for Nationals in Egypt

The Syrian Embassy in Cairo has announced new measures aimed at simplifying the return process for Syrian nationals residing in Egypt. These steps include the provision of free document certification, a one-time six-month passport extension, and free return tickets for eligible Syrians.
In a statement released on its official Facebook page, the embassy clarified that the fee exemptions will apply specifically to the document certification process, while other services remain subject to the usual fees. Notably, Syrian nationals can now obtain return tickets on the same day without needing prior appointments.
This initiative comes as part of ongoing efforts to support the Syrian diaspora in Egypt, which is home to approximately 1.5 million Syrians, making it the second-largest foreign community in the country after Sudanese nationals. The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) has officially registered 148,439 Syrian refugees in Egypt, with many still awaiting their yellow cards.
